About Scholur, and why we match teachers instead of selling one
Scholur is a small online tuition service for school students in Class 1 to 10, teaching every main subject across CBSE, ICSE and State boards, anywhere in India and for Indian families living abroad. Classes are live, they run with a matched teacher, and the first one is free. Scholur itself started in 2026, built on 14+ years of classroom teaching behind it - we would rather say that plainly than pretend to a longer history.
The promise Scholur makes is narrow and deliberate: we match your child to the right teacher. Not the most famous teacher, not whichever teacher happens to have a free slot on Tuesday - the right one for your child’s class, board and actual difficulty.
That is a less glamorous pitch than a photograph of one charismatic tutor, and we know it. It is also the only version that survives contact with the truth. No single person teaches Class 1 letter sounds and Class 10 trigonometry equally well. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling you a personality, and your child will be taught by somebody else anyway.

A teacher who has taught Class 9 CBSE Maths is not automatically right for a Class 2 child who cannot blend sounds. We match against the class, the board and the problem - three filters, not one.

The panel
What every teacher has to have before they teach your child
These are conditions of being on the panel at all, not things we hope for. They are also deliberately about evidence rather than paperwork. A degree certificate tells you what somebody studied; watching them teach a live class tells you whether a nine-year-old will follow them.
The last one matters more than it looks. A teacher who can be reached on WhatsApp between classes is a teacher a parent can ask “is this normal?” without waiting for a scheduled call, and most of the useful conversations happen exactly there.
We do not publish individual teacher profiles or credentials on this site. That is not evasion - it is because the profile you would read is not the thing that decides whether your child improves. The assessment is, and it costs nothing.

Why a group class
The teacher match is the product
A teacher who has already taught your child’s exact class and board is the thing being promised here. Not a format, not a platform - the person who turns up every week, knows what your child sounded like last week, and is reachable on WhatsApp in between.
This is the first thing we protect and the last thing we would trade. Putting a teacher in front of a class they have not taught before is the easiest money in this business: the hour runs the same length, the fee is the same, and a parent cannot tell from the outside. It is also the exact point at which the thing you paid for stops existing.
When we do not have the right teacher for a child, we say so and ask the family to wait rather than putting them with whoever is free. That is worse for us in the short term. It is not worse for your child.
There is a second reason, and it is about children rather than arithmetic. A child who is behind is usually also embarrassed about being behind. In a batch of five, saying “I did not understand that” is survivable. In a batch of forty, it is not, which is how a small gap in Class 4 becomes a large one by Class 7. Live classes mainly buy your child permission to admit confusion early, and almost everything else follows from that.
When we get it wrong
Sometimes the match is wrong. Then we change it.
Matching is a judgement, and judgements miss. A teacher who is exactly right on paper can turn out to be too brisk for a child who needs a longer pause, or too gentle for a child who responds to being pushed. Neither person has done anything wrong. It is simply a mismatch, and mismatches are ordinary.
What you should do is tell us - in week two, not in month four. Message Kanchan on WhatsApp and say it plainly. You do not need a reason you can defend, and nobody will ask you to justify it or try to talk you out of it. We will move your child to a different teacher.
We would also rather you told us the awkward version: that your child dreads the class, that they have stopped doing the worksheets, that something has gone quiet at home about it. Those are the useful signals, and they arrive far earlier than any test score does.

Four things Scholur is not
It is easier to judge a tuition service by what it refuses to do than by what it claims. Here is our list, so you can hold us to it.
We are not a marketplace
You are not handed a list of profiles to browse and rate. Choosing a teacher from a grid of photographs is a job most parents are not equipped to do, and it is our job anyway.
We are not one famous teacher
No single person credibly teaches Class 1 phonics and Class 10 Chemistry well. Any service claiming otherwise is selling a personality, and your child will be taught by someone else regardless.
We do not run large batches
If demand grows we open another class or we say no. We do not quietly add chair and hope nobody notices.
We do not publish reviews we cannot verify
There are no invented parent quotes anywhere on this site, and no star rating in our search listings that we cannot stand behind. The reviews page says so plainly.
Being small has costs and we would rather name them than hide them. There are fewer time slots than a large platform offers. Some subject and board combinations we simply do not take on, and we will tell you that instead of improvising. When a batch is full, it is full. If you need a class starting tomorrow at any hour, a bigger service will serve you better and we will say so.
What you get in exchange is that nothing about your child gets lost in a system. The person who matched the teacher is the person you message when something is not working, and the teacher in week twelve is the same one from week one. For most families that trade is worth it. For some it is not, and the free assessment exists precisely so you can find out which you are before any money changes hands.

Why this exists
Why we started in 2026
Scholur started in Bengaluru with in-person classes for younger children, and grew from a plain observation: in a class of forty, a quiet child can go most of a year without being asked a direct question. Not because anyone is careless - because forty is forty. A child who did not follow Tuesday’s lesson has no moment in which to say so, and by the time it shows in a test the gap is three chapters wide.
Weekend online English classes came next, for families outside Bengaluru who wanted the same thing and could not get to a house in HSR Layout. That is the whole origin: not a platform, not an app, a teacher with a small enough group to notice.
We are new, and we would rather say so than imply a history we do not have. There is no “since 2012” on this site, no student count we cannot evidence, and no rating attached to reviews that do not yet exist. What we can point to is the 14 years of classroom teaching behind the matching, and the fact that every price is on the fees page rather than quoted after you enquire.
Safeguarding
Keeping your child safe in an online class
An adult meets your child on a screen every week. That deserves a clear answer rather than a line in a policy document nobody opens.
No private channel to your child
Teachers message the parent's number, never the child's. There is no in-app chat, no direct messaging, and no reason for a teacher to contact your child outside a class.
We never ask for identifying details
No child's full name, photograph, school name, date of birth, address or identity document is collected anywhere on this website - only the class they are in.
The same teacher, not a rota
Your child sees one person each week. A rota of strangers is worse for learning and worse for safeguarding, because nobody is accountable for what happened last Tuesday.
Consent sits with the parent
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 a child is anyone under 18, and a parent or lawful guardian must give verifiable consent before a child's data is processed. That is why enquiries come from you, not from them.

Who will actually teach my child?
A teacher matched to your child's class, board and specific difficulty - you meet them in the free assessment before you decide anything. We deliberately do not front one named teacher, because no one person teaches Class 1 phonics and Class 10 Science equally well.
What are your teachers required to have?
Every teacher on the panel has: Taught the class and board your child is in; Interviewed and observed teaching a live class before joining; Teaches the same batch every week - never a rota of strangers; Reachable by parents on WhatsApp between classes. Those are conditions of being on the panel at all, not aspirations.
What if we do not get on with the teacher?
Tell us and we will change the match. It is a normal request and it does not need to be a difficult conversation - a mismatch is usually about temperament rather than ability, and it is far better fixed in week two than endured for a term.
Why are batches kept small?
Because that is the largest group in which every child can be asked something directly in every class. Above roughly six, a quiet child can attend for a month without speaking, which is exactly the situation tuition is supposed to fix.
How big is Scholur?
Small, on purpose. We are not a national coaching chain and we do not intend to become one - the format only works while someone can still hold every batch, teacher and family in their head at once.
Who do I speak to when I message you?
Kanchan handles enquiries and matching. WhatsApp is the fastest route, usually answered the same day between classes. Class hours are 16:00-20:00 on weekdays and 09:00-13:00 at weekends, IST.
Do you teach students outside India?
Yes. Indian families abroad are a real part of the timetable, and class times are set around your local evening rather than ours. The fees are the same as they are in India, and one-to-one classes schedule most easily across time zones.
