About this worksheet

My child answers the questions correctly but reads the passage very slowly - should I be worried?

Not at this stage. Slow, accurate reading is a strong sign the passage is at the right level. Speed builds naturally with more reading practice over the following months.

Why is this worksheet marked 'challenging' when the words are simple?

The words are simple, but holding a whole short passage in mind while answering questions about it is a genuinely harder skill than reading one sentence at a time, which is why it comes last in this set.

What should my child move on to after this worksheet?

If this felt comfortable, Class 2 English worksheets, which use longer sentences and slightly more varied vocabulary, are the right next step rather than repeating this level.

Does this Class 1 English worksheet come with answers?
