  2. 2) 4/4 means all 4 equal parts are taken, which is the entire whole. 4/5 means only 4 of 5 equal parts are taken, leaving one part missing, so it is less than a whole.
  3. 3) Both fractions have the same numerator, 9, so the one split into fewer parts (10) has bigger pieces than the one split into more parts (11). So 9/10 is greater.
  4. 4) Its value is 1 (one whole). This does not contradict the idea of a fraction as a part of a whole, because taking every single part (6 out of 6) still counts as ‘a part’ - just the part that happens to be the whole thing.
