While your child works

Teach the ि rule explicitly before starting: it is written before the letter but read after it. Almost every child who reads दिन as 'इदन' has simply never been told, and one sentence fixes it.
For choosing between ि and ी, say the word slowly and listen for length - short 'i' takes ि, long 'ee' takes ी. It is an ear judgement, not a rule to memorise.
The last exercise is reading, not writing. Let your child read aloud even if the writing is still shaky - reading fluency comes first and carries the writing along later.

About this worksheet

Why is ि written before the letter but spoken after it?

It is a feature of Devanagari notation rather than of the sound. In दिन the ि is printed to the left of द but pronounced after it. Children who have not been told this explicitly read दिन as 'इदन' - it is the single most common Class 1 Hindi reading error, and explaining it once usually fixes it for good.

How do I know whether a word takes छोटी इ or बड़ी ई?

By sound length. A short 'i' takes ि (दिन, तिल, मिल) and a long 'ee' takes ी (नदी, रोटी, पानी). Say the word slowly and listen - it is an ear judgement rather than a rule, which is why reading aloud helps more than written drilling here.
